My 10 favorites among all the lines uttered over the years.

1. 'It's up to you' by Oliver Stone, performed by Kevin Costner.

JFK is a flawed film at times but the final courtroom speech does make a strong point.

2. 'Prejudice under the surface' by Olof Palme.

A speech by Olof Palme in Swedish about the supressed feelings of Sweden.

3. 'I'm mad as hell' by Paddy Chayefsky, performed by William Holden.

One of many great speeches in the must-see-film Network. The message rings perhaps even more true today than in it did in 1976.

4. 'On the current state of TV' by Edward E. Murrow, performed by David Strathairn.

It was no cooincidence that Clooney & Co made this movie in these times. The prediction came true in the 50's and even more so now.

5. 'Justice, truth and the value of a single human being' by Abby Mann, performed by Spencer Tracy.

Judgement at Nuremberg is a powerful film which hasn't lost any of its power in spite of being made 40 years ago. The speech is about morals and hypocrisy and the value of a single human being.

6. 'That's called integrity' by Bo Goldman, performed by Al Pacino.

A great speech from 'A scent of a woman' about integrity and leadership. Pacino has a way with words. It probably wasn't written this way but he made it his own.

7. 'Ask not what your country can do for you' by John F. Kennedy.

A speech filled with rhetoric of the american dream but then he turns ut on its head and gets to the point at the same time.

8. 'The Indinapolis speech' by Robert Kennedy.

Bobby Kenndy delivers the news of Martin Luther King's assassination and speaks from his heart.

9. 'A more perfect union' by Barack Obama.

In spite of all talk of 'all talk and no action' one cannot ignore the fact that Obama has the gift of speaking and at the same time the gift of encouraging and bringing people together.

10. 'I have a dream' by Martin Luther King.

A perhaps too obvious classic but probably the best one around. The best example of good rhetorics.
